Two of the primary considerations in DNA paternity testing for any laboratory are accuracy and reliability. Accuracy starts with technology. At Genex Diagnostics, we have committed to the latest and most reliable technology, using the automated ABI Prism 310 system, the automated ABI 3100 system and fluorescent PCR-amplified CODIS core loci to analyze all parentage cases. The Applied Biosystems ABI Prism 310 and ABI Prism 3100 systems employ fluorescent capillary gel electrophoresis, the most advanced commercial technology for genetic analysis and takes the place of older technologies such as real-time fluorescent slab gel electrophoresis, non-real-time fluorescent slab gel electrophoresis (e.g., Hitachi FMBIO I/II), silver-stained slab gel electrophoresis (e.g. Promega SilverSTR system), colorimetric strip systems (PE AmplitypeR PM), or even more archaic systems such as HLA-typing, RFLP analysis, or protein and red blood cell enzyme screening. By using automation, precise laser detection, and computer assisted analysis, Genex is able to use the latest technology to provide the most accurate paternity test available today.
