Genex enforces strict protocols to ensure that all samples are collected and processed properly. To ensure proper collection and care of samples, Genex employs only licensed health professionals to perform sample collections. During sample collection, all phlebotomists and nurses follow a strict protocol for collection. All patients are properly identified at their appointment by a series of three identification procedures. Patients are asked to bring two pieces of legal photograph identification to their appointment (e.g. driver's license, passport; for children, the birth certificate and health care card must be presented). At the appointment, the collector verifies and documents the identification. A Polaroid photograph is taken and the patient is further identified by fingerprinting. For some locations, clients are asked to bring a recent passport photograph to the appointment. The strict identification procedures ensure the integrity of the sample by properly identifying and verifying the individual who presented for the appointment. All sample collection containers are labelled with the name and date of birth of the patient. Identification documentation are included with the samples for verification. The strict identification protocols ensure the integrity of the sample right from the beginning. |
